Cadillac's boldest statement, the 2003 Escalade.
The heart of the new Escalade is a 345-horsepower V8 engine engineered
exclusively for Cadillac. So whether it's hauling a heavy load or
effortlessly reaching 60 mph in under nine seconds, there's little
question that Escalade is the most powerful SUV in the world.
Powertrain (6.0 liter high-output V8)
Escalade's high-output 345-horsepower V8 engine is truly one of
a kind. It features a short-stroke crank and muscle car-strong 10:1
compression inside lightweight aluminum cylinder heads. Escalade's
engine delivers 345 horsepower at 5,200 RPM and 380 ft-lbs of torque
at 4,000 RPM. What does all this mean? That no other SUV in the
world packs as much power as the new Escalade. So press the pedal
and feel for yourself.
Electronically Controlled Heavy-Duty Transmission
Escalade's electronically controlled four-speed automatic transmission
is designated "heavy duty" for a reason. It's built to
handle 20 percent more torque than its predecessors. We've added
more clutch plates and made certain parts tougher, other parts larger,
and scores of parts better than they have to be.
